Agriculture

Agriculture is a key sector of the economy, the productivity of which depends to fed in the country. Even before the rise of Gigargios and several centuries after, the northern coast with the distinction of Orgon was able to feed nearly the entire population in the territory of Gigargios. And the desert areas covers most of the country, as the provinces on south from the Niger River were self-sufficient. Over time; the population of Gigargios grew to a several million, so that the agricultural areas on the north were unable to fully meet the demand. Began import the grain from neighboring countries like Egypt. Although delivery from this country was unstable as there were periods of it’s unavailability. Apart from Egypt, the suppliers were the inhabitants of Sardinia and Iberia. Also due of the instability of these phylum’s, supplies were interrupted. Accessibility of adequate food rations was (point for existence) for Gigargios. Thus, it’s defined the size of the population, which was limited to a few million. In the south, also made attempts to aggregate these areas. It is true that in certain areas it was possible to produce export crops from that fields.  Although, the south had not yet been considered as a potential feeder. First of all, the local population was not adapted to market farming, limiting themself to self-supply farming. Let’s go back to North. As previously mentioned, agricultural areas along the coast were the main feeder for most of the country. At least for some time. These required a lot of involvement of the farmers living there. Because of their function, they were extremely valuable to society as a whole, and although they did not earn a fortune from their crops, they were serfdom-free, self-employed farmers, works on their success. And at the same time for the whole country. In the later period, the percent’s of meeting the state’s needs through the north of the coast dropped significantly. To make matters worse, the population living there has jumped upwards which increased local demand.

Getting back to the point, domestic agriculture was an elementary branch of the economy that allowed for the self-supply of the state for some time. The abundance of food defined the size of the population, and thus the augmentation of the population.
